Actor Zachary Quinto Talks to Andrew Berman, Executive Director of Village Preservation

Actor Zachary Quinto and Andrew Berman, head of Village Preservation, speak about the role of epidemics in Manhattan.

ANDREW BERMAN has been the Executive Director of GVSHP since 2002. He previously worked in the New York State Senate and New York City Council for Thomas K. Duane, who represented Greenwich Village, the East Village, NoHo, SoHo, Chelsea, and Hell’s Kitchen, among other neighborhoods. While working in state and city government, Andrew focused on issues including land use and historic preservation. In 2013, he was named to the Vanity Fair “Hall of Fame” for his preservation work at GVSHP, and was named one of the 100 Most Powerful People in Real Estate by the New York Observer, and one of one hundred “Influentials” by New York Magazine. Crain’s New York Business called him “a force to be reckoned with.” A lifelong New Yorker, Andrew has an Art History degree from Wesleyan University.

ZACHARY QUINTO was born and raised in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, attended Carnegie Mellon University School of Drama and received a BFA in Acting. Currently, he can be seen hosting the unscripted HISTORY series which he also executive produces, In Search Of.

Film credits include: The Star Trek franchise, I Am Michael, Oliver Stone’s Snowden; Who We Are Now, and Hotel Artemis. Television credits include 24, So NoTORIous, CSI, Six Feet Under, Heroes, American Horror Story: Asylum (Critic’s Choice Award and Emmy nomination). Theater credits include the 2010 Signature revival of Tony Kushner’s Angels In America (Theater World Award and a Drama Desk Award nomination); the 2013 Tony Award winning production of the Glass Menagerie; MCC’s 2016 production of Noah Haidle’s Smokefall and most recently, Joe Mantello’s revival of The Boys in the Band at the Booth Theater.

In 2008, Quinto began his production company Before the Door Pictures and produced and starred in Margin Call alongside Stanley Tucci. His company has gone on to produce such films as All Is Lost, Banshee Chapter, and A Most Violent Year.
